As an affiliate with the Society for the Advancement of Actuarial Risk Need Assessment (SAARNA), I provide counselling and risk assessments for individuals who have been charged/convicted of a sexual offence.

I have over 7 years of frontline experience and over 1 year in a supervisory role, all in Timmins and area through Treaty 9.

I am a strong advocate for wholistic wellness and believe balance is crucial in our healing journey. In my practice I utilize strengths based and trauma-informed approaches working with clients to build healthy coping strategies, strengthen connection to supports, and achieve identified goals. Areas of focus include:(but not limited to) Anger Management Mental Health Illness: Anxiety, Depression, Schizophrenia, Bi-Polar, Borderline Personality Disorder, Anti-Social Personality Disorder, Suicidal Ideation) Self-Esteem/Confidence Sexual Offences, Registered Sex Offenders, Individuals charged and/or convicted of a sexual offence, Stress Management, Substance Use /Misuse/Addiction System Navigation (Legal, Child Welfare, Social Services) Trauma (Complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder [CPTSD] and PTSD, and Intergenerational Trauma)

Born and raised in Timmins, I have dedicated my practice to supporting its community members and improving the wellness and health of our most vulnerable individuals. I graduated from Algoma University in Sault Ste Marie where I obtained my Honours Bachelor of Social Work (cum laude) with a Minor in Law in 2016. I found my passion for community wellness and healing through my education and professional experiences and have learned to truly appreciate the north. Through my professional experience thus far I have obtained over 850 hours of training and education through several different organizations such as Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) where I obtained my certification for Opioid Use Dependence Treatment (OUDT). Through Thunderbird partnership Foundation (TPF) I am a trained facilitator for the Cannabis Education for First Nations (CEFN) certificate program. As an active member of the OCSWSSW it is imperative to continue education and training to maintain current best standards of practice with relevant and current research/data.

I am beyond grateful for the amazing mentors, supervisors, coworkers, along with Grandmother, elders, and Traditional Healers and Knowledge Keepers who shared with me throughout Treaty 9. I carry these teachings and lessons with a grateful heart, sharing openly and honestly to best support my clients.

Hi, my name is Mackenzie, and I am a Registered Social Worker from Timmins, ON.

I have supported individuals and families through addiction, housing crises, human trafficking, abuse, and medical emergencies. My experience includes providing end-of-life and grief therapy, supporting parents through postpartum depression, adoption, and child loss, and working with children in schools who faced academic and home challenges. I have also worked in long-term care, offering therapeutic programming for seniors, and in the Emergency Department, responding in high-pressure situations.

My practice is client-centered, collaborative, and adaptable, with a particular focus on supporting children and families living with Autism Spectrum Disorder. I often use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) while tailoring approaches to each client. I am passionate about culturally safe care, particularly in relation to intergenerational trauma within Indigenous communities, and I strive to provide support that fosters dignity and respect.

I also bring personal experience with neurodiversity as someone living with ADHD and as a mother of a child with autism. My approach is neurodiversity-affirming, focused on connection, autonomy, and celebrating strengths rather than compliance.

I hold training in ASIST (suicide intervention), Cultural Competency, Red Path Substance Abuse Treatment, Anti-Human Trafficking, and First Aid/CPR. These skills allow me to provide safe, compassionate care across diverse client needs.

Outside of work, I value time outdoors and integrate mindfulness and grounding practices into my therapeutic work. My goal is always to create a safe space where clients feel understood and empowered.
